Hazy Privacy Policy

Privacy Policy

Hazy is a weather app. It uses location, city search, and weather data services to show forecasts and current conditions. This page explains what information Hazy processes, why it is needed, and how it is handled.

Effective date: March 22, 2026 App version: 2.0.0 Source code Contact / Issues

Short Version

Location is optional

Hazy only accesses your current location if you grant location permission. The app uses it to fetch local weather and resolve the name of your current area.

No accounts, ads, or analytics

Hazy does not require account registration and does not include ads or third-party analytics SDKs.

Saved cities stay on your device

Cities you save are stored locally on your device. Hazy does not run its own backend to store your personal weather data.

Information Hazy Processes

  • Current location. If you allow location access, Hazy may process your device's latitude and longitude to load weather for where you are.
  • City search queries. When you search for a city, the text you enter is sent to the city search service so matching locations can be returned.
  • Saved cities. If you save cities, Hazy stores the saved city name and related coordinates locally on your device.
  • Network request metadata. Like most internet requests, third-party services may receive technical information such as your IP address and request headers when your device contacts them.

How Hazy Uses Information

  • To fetch the current weather, hourly forecast, and daily forecast.
  • To show weather for your current location when permission is granted.
  • To turn your coordinates into a readable city or district name.
  • To search for cities and let you save them for quick access later.
  • To adapt content language based on your system language.

Third-Party Services

Hazy relies on third-party services that are necessary to provide its core weather features:

  • Open-Meteo Forecast API. Used to retrieve weather data based on city coordinates or your current location.
  • Open-Meteo Geocoding API. Used when you search for cities by name.
  • Native geocoding services on your device. Used to reverse-geocode your coordinates into a human-readable place name. Depending on your platform, this may be provided by your operating system or its service provider.

Hazy does not sell your personal information. Hazy also does not operate a developer-controlled backend for user accounts or cloud storage.

Storage, Retention, and Deletion

  • Saved cities are stored locally on your device until you remove them or uninstall the app.
  • Current location data is used transiently to fulfill weather and reverse-geocoding requests.
  • Data sent to third-party services is subject to those providers' own retention and privacy practices.

Permissions

  • Location. Used to show weather for your current location and resolve the current area name.
  • Internet / network access. Used to fetch weather and city search results.

Your Choices

  • You can deny or revoke location access in your device settings.
  • You can remove saved cities inside the app.
  • You can stop using the app and uninstall it at any time.

Children's Privacy

Hazy is not intended to knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe the app has processed information in a way that should be reviewed, please contact the project owner using the repository contact method below.

Changes to This Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time as the app evolves. When that happens, the effective date at the top of this page will be updated.
